SK chemicals has been acknowledged by global ESG assessing organizations for its dedication to climate change response and water resource protection.

On March 14, SK chemicals (CEO Ahn Jae-hyun) announced its receipt of the Honors Award in the Carbon Management Sector (Raw Materials category) at the 2023 CDP Climate Change and Water Security Awards held on March 13.

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), established in the UK in 2000, is a global non-profit organization and initiative requesting disclosure of environmental management information related to climate change, water security, and biodiversity from major listed or unlisted companies. Operating as a global platform for environmental information disclosed by over 90 countries, CDP is considered the most credible among sustainability assessment indexes and is utilized as a source of environmental data by major ESG assessment organizations such as Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) and the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI).

Last year, SK chemicals received an A- grade in both the Climate Change and Water Security categories, according to CDP. Particularly noteworthy is the water security category, having improved by two grades from the previous year (B-) due to the establishment and disclosure of targets for water intake, water recycling, and water pollution indicators.

Last year, SK chemicals established an integrated management system to address climate and water resource-related risks, enhanced its response strategies for risks and opportunities, diversified its financial impact analysis, and transparently disclosed these efforts through sustainability management reports and TCFD reports.

Kim Kee-dong, the Head of the Management Support Division at SK chemicals, said, "Our efforts to enhance ESG management have resulted in favorable outcomes from CDP, following assessments by global organizations like MSCI and DJSI. We are committed to consistently making sincere efforts in responding to climate change by addressing issues such as plastic waste and reducing carbon emissions."
